Anti-Iraq-war groups, who helped propel Barack Obama into the White House, are now spraying him with friendly fire over his 2010 timetable to pull U.S. troops from Iraq and his decision to send 17,000 more to Afghanistan.

An array of groups who marched and organized in support of Obama's Iraq-withdrawal platform -- including Military Families Speak out, the ANSWER Coalition, the United Methodist Church, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and the Catholic Church's Los Angeles archdiocese-- announced this past week they are now mobilizing against Obama's new policies and will hold a march on the Pentagon on March 21 to oppose them.
Among those abandoning Obama is peace-movement elder Tom Hayden, who was quoted as saying, "Some like myself passionately supported Barack Obama for president and I still do ... but I feel an equal passion against his policies" now.
For now, Obama's stance on Afghanistan is closer to that of the general U.S. public, which, polls show, backs greater involvement in Afghanistan and a measured pullout from Iraq.
