It’s the culmination of years of research and investigation into the Chinese regime’s alleged practice of harvesting organs from prisoners of conscience. The book is called Bloody Harvest: The Killing of Falun Gong for Their Organs.

Canadian authors David Matas and David Kilgour have been travelling around the world to raise awareness about the issue. Their initial report on organ harvesting came out in 2006. And now they’ve updated it and turned it into a book, which they formally launched on Sunday (November 15) in Toronto.

David Kilgour is talking about people who practice Falun Gong—a Chinese meditation practice that teaches the principles of truth, compassion, and tolerance.

For more than 10 years, the Chinese regime has persecuted its practitioners, sending hundreds of thousands to forced labor camps.

“Many of the people who are working 16 hours a day for no pay with terrible living conditions are Falun Gong practitioners who are sent to these work camps. No trial; policeman just simply says, ‘I commit you for four years,’ and you’re gone. You have no appeal.”

The former Canadian Member of Parliament says they’ve collected 52 points of evidence that, when put together, offer a compelling argument that thousands of these people in labor camps have been killed so their organs can be sold—at a big profit—to people needing transplants.

“With great pain, people I think—most people who read the report, I think—find that there are 52 kinds of evidence or proof that this terrible thing is happening—this crime against humanity—and I think most people who’ve read the report tell us that they’re overwhelmingly convinced that it’s happening.”

Chinese officials have said the book’s contents are false and anti-Chinese. But so far, in the three years since the initial report came out, the only specific points officials have rebutted are that the initial draft had put two cities in the wrong provinces.
